Our Staff


The Child Care Center in Norwich has a dedicated, experienced staff of seventeen. Most of our staff work on site at the Montshire Road location with several off-site teachers leading the after school program at the Marion Cross Elementary School in Norwich.

Nursery Staff

Karla Ilsley Karla Ilsley first joined the staff at the Child Care Center in 1988.  She has a BA in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from Castleton State College.  She has worked with all age groups in Center over the years.  She became a Nursery teacher in 1996 where she worked until 2003 when she left the Center.  She rejoined the Nursery team in 2007.
Molly Pippin is working on her BA in Elementary Education. She experience working with children in informal settings with family and in the community. Molly joined the Nursery team in April of 2015.
Jody Poczobut Jody Poczobut joined the Nursery team in the fall of 2013.  Jody had experience working with preschoolers in two center-based programs in Rutland, Vermont before moving across the state. Prior to that she took courses in early childhood education while studying at Keene State College.

Red Room Staff

Shelly Sanderson Shelly Sanderson has worked with young children both in preschool settings and as an educational assistant in the public school. She became the assistant teacher in the Green Room in the fall of 2008 and a teacher in the Yellow Room in 2009. She also spent time as a float before moving into the Red Room in August of 2015.
Courtney Dragiff has a BS from the University of Alabama. Most of her experience working with children has been in informal settings with family and the community. Courtney joined the Red Room team in December of 2014.

 Yellow Room Staff

Britny Morrill has her BS in Early Childhood Education from Granite State University. She has worked as a lead teacher in a preschool program and as a classroom assistant in the public school. Britney joined the Yellow Room team in August of 2015.
Jodie Carroll Jodie Carroll joined the Nursery team in May of 2006 and moved to the Yellow Room in 2008 and the Blue Room in 2014. She comes to us with a background at Head Start and in home based child care. She has a BA in Communication Studies with a strong foundation in early childhood education and sign language from Keene State College.

Blue Room Staff

Laura Caravella has a BA from Castleton State College; 25 of her credits are in education. She has worked as a para-educator in the public school and as a behavior interventionist in a private school setting. Laura first worked at the Child Care Center as a float and the in the Nursery from 2011 until the fall of 2013. She returned to work in the Blue Room in 2014.
Hannah Nadeau has an associate degree in Early Childhood Education from the Community College of Vermont. She has five years of experience as a preschool teacher/director. Hannah joined the Yellow Room team in March of 2014 and moved to the Blue Room in August of 2015.

Orange Room Staff

Karen Burdette Karen Burdette graduated from Wheelock College with BS in Early Childhood Education. She started working in our Nursery in 1982, where she stayed until she moved to the Orange Room in 2006. Karen is one of the two head teachers in the Center.

After School Program Staff

Cherie Landi Cherie Landi, the Head Teacher at the After School Program, joined the Child Care Center staff in August of 2009 when the After School Program opened. Cherie has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Swain School of Design and a Masters of Education from Antioch New England Graduate School. Cherie worked with children in the first through the eighth grade in Dublin and Francestown NH prior to moving to the Upper Valley. Cherie also works part time as a float at the A-frame when she is not at the After School Program.
Andrew Martin has as BA in in Psychology from North Georgia College and State University. He has experience as a behavioral interventionist and as a camp counselor. Andrew joined the after school team in November of 2014; he is a float with preschoolers during the morning.
Jennifer Brown has her Associates from the Community College of Vermont; she is in the process of getting her BA in Elementary Education at Johnson State. She has experience working with children through the Windham School District and has done field work at Dotham Brook School. She joined the AfterSchool team in September of 2015.

“Floating” Staff

Fay Weber Fay Weber joined the Red Room team in 2007 and moved to float in the summer of 2008; she came to us from Massachusetts and had been a teacher in the toddler room at the Shrewsbury Children’s Center for six years. Fay has BA from Franklin Pierce College and has Massachusetts certification as a preschool and toddler teacher.

Administrative Staff

Allison Colburn Allison Colburn, Executive Director, has a BA in Early Childhood Education from Tufts University Child Study Department and a MS in Nonprofit Management from New England College. She worked as a teacher and assistant director both in the Boston area and in the Upper Valley before she joined the staff at The Child Care Center in Norwich as a program coordinator in 1982. Allison has been the Director of the Center since 1997.
Lisa Lawrence has a BA in Arts in English Language and Literature. She has worked as a paraprofessional in the public schools and has done home care through Vermont Supported Living. She joined the Blue Room team in the fall of 2000 and moved to the office in 2006.
Peter Haubrich, our bookkeeper, is the third member of the office team. Peter has many years of bookkeeping experience; he has been at the Center since 1990.
