|Yellow Room Staff||Blue Room Staff|
The Yellow and Blue Rooms are both preschool classrooms for children ages three to five. Each classroom has thirteen children and two teachers.
The focus of the curriculum in these classrooms is the development of social skills and peer interactions in preparation for Kindergarten. The teachers establish a physical and learning environment that addresses all the aspects of the children’s development to ensure that children see themselves as capable learners. The interests of the children guide the teachers to provide opportunities for free exploration as well as teacher-structured activities centered around math, science, literacy, and creative expression.
Children develop skills such as sorting, classifying, measuring, rhyming and pre-reading and pre-writing skills. This age group needs a lot of opportunities for large motor activities, so we play outside for an hour every morning and half an hour to an hour each afternoon. We also balance their day with times for free play, structured small or large group activities and rest time.
