Diversity

We are committed to inclusivity and giving our children a lived sense of welcoming community.

Our dedication to diversity and multiculturalism is firmly rooted in the Reggio Emilia approach. We see all children as capable and we value the variety of ways they communicate who they are, how they learn, and how they understand the world. We are committed to creating a school where all children, families and teachers and all members of the wider community are valued and treated with respect, dignity, and compassion. We strive to see and celebrate our differences and commonalities in race, culture, ethnicity, language, ability, gender and gender identity, religion, family structure, and socio-economic experiences. Our approach is strengths based:  differences enrich our school and society.

FINANCIAL AID

We are committed to providing equitable access to high-quality early education to families across the Upper Valley. We want every child to have access to a strong start in life; no family is turned away based on financial need. Our sliding scale tuition ensures that a family's financial commitment is proportionate to their financial resources. We accept subsidies from both Vermont and New Hampshire, and our in-house Family Scholarship program provides additional support for about 25% of our families in any given year.

Children with Special rights

All children are welcome at the Treehouse, including those with diverse and special rights, a term favored by Reggio educators over "special needs.” As an inclusive school, all of our children have the right to educational support to help them flourish and grow. Our curriculum allows children to lead with their interests and strengths. For children requiring speech and language support, or occupational or physical therapy, we frequently work hand in hand with Early Intervention (under age 3) and with local school districts.

Anti-Bias Framework

An anti-bias framework guides our work with children as they learn to build positive social identities, recognize and appreciate the differences among us, gain a basic, age-appropriate understanding of “justice for all,” and speak up in the face of unfairness. Our Peace Book project introduces children to storybooks that touch on multiculturalism, stewardship of the earth, exuberant self expression, peacemaking, and the amazing diversity in our world.

At TCS, we welcome and celebrate diversity
